Be sure to allow enough time to bake the beans and to allow them to set and cool before serving.1 lb. bacon, thinly sliced while still partially frozen, fry 'til browned. Drain on paper towels and set aside
2 cans (29 oz. each) baked beans
2 cans (14 oz. each) diced tomatoes
1-1/2 cups brown sugar
(other stuff as desired: onions, peppers, mustard, etc...whatever you like!)
Stir together all ingredients and put in large pot. Bake at 375 degrees uncovered for 3-4 hours. Allow the baked beans to sit at room temperature for at least an hour before serving, as they will be very hot and cooling will allow liquid will solidify a bit.
For larger groups make double recipe and bake uncovered in turkey roasting pan for 4 hours.
For triple recipe. bake for 6 hours in turkey roasting pan. Final triple recipe after 6 hours baking = 22 cups of beans
For crowd of 200: 6 lbs. bacon, 5X recipe, 4 yellow/orange peppers--baked 6 hours in large canning pot, with 2 hours to set afterwards.
