3-1/2 - 4 lbs. ground beef
2 cans diced tomatoes in juice
46 oz. vegetable juice (a tall can)
1 small can chopped green chilies
16 oz. (about 2 cups) salsa
2 or 3 cans light red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 can chili beans, rinsed lightly
3 Tbl. chili powder
1/2 Tbl. cumin
1/2 Tbl. dried oregano
1/2 Tbl. paprika
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
1/8 tsp. ground ginger
chopped cilantro
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 Tbl. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 small yam, peeled and finely diced (optional)
Brown ground beef plenty in soup pot. Add other ingredients and simmer lots (uncovered) until liquid goes down.
